While this piece is not entirely up to my current writing standards I think it’s still an enjoyable and technically competent read, and is a good place to begin for Open Star related materials which I intend to release more of in the near future. As such I’ve presented it more or less as it originally was with some updated formatting for the ebook.There’s some strong differences between the Open Stars setting and my other series that readers of the latter should be aware of. Namely this series is military scifi, and the books don’t have the strong romantic and slice of life themes that are endemic to Of Dog, Volpir and Man. That’s not to say I won’t write romance pieces in this setting, but I want to manage expectations appropriately. I hope you enjoy Major Sterling’s adventures. S FEric Wesson
